VOLUME 3; No.3 MARCH 1980
Dear Brethren;
Greetings in the name of Jesus. This month marks the beginning of our 6th year
here in Papua New Guinea- so long yet so short ! Terasa turned 9 yrs old on
the 20th- she was four when we came.
February saw our averages as follows.- Sunday AM 219
Thursday 36. We had two baptisms.
We receive many letters asking, "How do your children get along over there?'
In the International Primary School they have many friends. Both Jason and Terasa
attended a conservative denominational Religious Instruction class last year
until the teacher began teaching doctrine and not just the Bible. Terasa would
come home asking questions and then would go back and ask the teacher questions
after talking with us. This year Kathy and I are teaching a class once a week
for 30 mins. So far only our kids attend( parents choose the class they want
their children in (R.C., Luth., Anglican etc)) ) but the kids /lave been trying
to get their friends to sign up for Mr. Huff's class. Terasa came home last
week wanting to know where the scripture was which said, "all things are
clean". Come to find out she has a little SDA girl friend who she wanted
to show that one can eat pork now. Terasa is very concerned that her little
friend is not following Jesus.
From time to time the kids also say," We sure would like to go back to
America (AU-MER-REKA: their Australian accents) to see TV." We have no
national television here but the majority of foreign employees have video TV
with tapes available through tape libraries here. We figure we are better off
without TV though. We have a Super 8 mm projector and we have bought several
Walt Disney sound cartoons which we view from time to time.
During February we did a wee bit of printing. The bulk of the printing was
done for the Lae group whereas they have the Bible School and they were planning
a city wide campaign in March. We printed:
60,000- Bible bookmarkers: one side with the plan of salvation in Pidgin English
the other side advertising Lae's Gospel meeting.
20,000- tracts: "What is the church of Christ" in Pidgin English.
20,000+ pages to be used in Bible classes as handouts
300-34page booklets: Health book (Lukautim Bodi bilong yu)
200-34page booklets: Rot Bilong Kristen Laip (Way of the Christian Life).
(both of these booklets were spiral bound)
This printing is definitely a team work. The Harrison girls and the Johnsons
putting the books together and binding them after I run them off on the press.

We were to have had a Village School this month but renewed tribal fighting
caused us to have to cancel it. Pray that peace will return! We are in no danger.
It only hinders our work there!
Please continue your prayers for the work! Thank You
