Dearest Friends and family
Here it is in July and I am just now getting this report out. Sorry!
I have seen the VA for the late time this trip back (knock on wood). I am still having some issues with the prostate surgery after-effects but hope to be able to deal with them in the future. I have been given a "no cancer" statement and a future appointment for May next year. My Chikagunya virus has run its course through me so I have more energy and less aching. I should be immune to it when we get back it I get bitten by those mosquitoes again.
The VA and I are still at odds where my medical records are from my active service in the USAF (1966-71). I finally contacted a young lady who has only been in the VA system a few months and she is trying her best to find the files. Here's looking at ya Uncle Sam!
Kathy is through with the doctors. She had tests, moles cut off, polyps cut out etc (thank you Medicare). Everything so far has come back normal but we are still waiting for the polyp findings.
The second week of July I helped put a new wooden floor down in the youth classroom at Mt Hope in Joplin. Only one bubu - while using a cut-off saw my left hand got too close to the rotating blade and I ended up cutting next to the middle knuckle. I pulled back before it went into the tendon and bone but I did cut through all the layers of skin (I didn't know it was that thick!). Fortunately with weight loss the skin was a bit loose and flabby. I wrapped it with paper towels and a rag and finished what we were doing for the day (can't panic the other workers you know!). I went home and was able to get Jason to super glue the skin together while I held it. So far it has held together and is healing. So how is your summer going?
ON THE ROAD AGAIN
With us finally free to travel we are on the road for the next three weeks trying
to report and see people before we head back in August. (What heat? Welcome
to our world!)
I spoke in Joplin July 12th and now we are in Hernando MS, heading for Lebonan TN, Coker AL, Columbus MS, Memhis TN, Searcy AR, Texarkana TX, Austin TX, Dallas TX before heading back to Joplin to speak August 9th. Then to Kansas City MO, finally packing and good byes before heading to Tulsa Aug 19th and back home August 21st. If you are on the way and have a desire to feast your eyes on us we could try and stop in (especially if you want to throw money at us). Just call me on (417) 629-7261. Remember if you don't continue supporting us in the Vanuatu work I might come back and work with your youth!!!!!
RELIEF FUNDS FOR REBUILDING
AFTER CYCLONE PAM
Kathy and I are humbled and at loss for words of the outpouring of funds to
help in the rebuilding after Cyclone Pam. The relief funds will be administered
by a group of Christians there while we are gone but I do not think much will
be needed until August/September when the government will get tired of feeding
everyone and cut back even more. That is when our help will be needed more.
We have a lot of food set aside in one of our containers. As for rebuilding
houses most of the people build with bush wood with grass/coconut leaf mat roofs
so they are waiting for vegetation to regrow.
I have heard from Goman and they have given out all the food we had stored and will be restocking in the week ahead and continuing to assist where needed and giving out. He said the government has said the last food hand-outs will be in July, even though there is still a need until gardens get back to pre-cyclone growing rates. So if you can help a bit more we and the work would appreciate it very much.
Our plans are still to return home August 19th.
Thanking you all so much for your prayers and extra support for recovery. May
God bless you richly as He has us.
Onward and upward!
Thank you so much for all of you who are praying for us, supporting us and have contributed to our needs. God bless you! Thank you for your prayers!
Thank you Lord for healing and providing what we need!
Grace & Peace
