Dearest Friends and family
COMING BACK
We are coming back for a grandson's (Harrison Davis) High School graduation
(50 years after mine - 1966), reporting and appointments with the VA. We will
be leaving here May 2nd and should be in Tulsa late May 2nd. We have only scheduled
6 weeks for this trip (to June 15th) so as to minimize of time away from the
work. We need your help, please! We have lost several hundred dollars of support
this past year as well as 2/3 thirds of my VA benefits. If you know of any places
we can talk and present our work for consideration of monthly or one time support
for the school and personal we would ask you to please contact us. (email me
or email or call my son - info at the bottom)
BIBLE CLASSES
I just finished the second week of English Bible classes for The Christian Institute
of Biblical Studies. I am teaching 6 weeks: two classes, each two nights, three
hours a night. I am teaching Old Testament History and Geography (Monday/Tuesday)
and Acts (Wednesday/Thursday). At present the students are 5 Christian men from
the Eton congregation. I am teaching at the church building because the school
property is 2 kilometers down the road and the classes are 6-9 pm thus it is
dark after we get finished and there is no transport. The night time classes
are because everyone has a life to live during the daytime and night is the
only time available. I will restart classes when we get back in June and hope
to have more people attend if even only to monitor the classes and not for credit.
If we want to teach locals here we need to adapt to their needs of providing
for their families and their work schedule. I still hope to have overseas and
full time students in the future but for right now I am back in the teaching
mode and loving it. Once we have full time students we will have classes at
the school and then probably night classes at the church building for locals
students who have to provide for their families.
I had to repair the damage from cyclone Pam to the electrical system in the building because we don't normally use the lights and power points and we hadn't bother to fix it yet. I also had to build a white board screen for the power point presentation and we have power from an extension cord off our generator.
We were not able to attend the combined fellowship worship this past month. Etas was opening their new building and they were having the dedication Sunday morning and it involved LOTS AND LOTS of smelly flowers and since Kathy has allergies we stayed at Eton and attended services with those who also did not travel to Etas. I have been teaching the Seven churches of Asia from Revelation 2 & 3 here at Eton as well as our regular third weekend at Epau.
Kathy was asked but some of the Port Vila women if she would teach a Bible class in Port Vila on Wednesday afternoon. She said yes and now drives in every Wednesday for Bible classes there. This gives me another day to be able to cut the fast growing grass while she is gone.
CIBS BUILDING
Goman is still working on the kitchen and toilet for the Bible school and we
hope to have it done in April now. It still takes time, time and time and a
half. We have been getting a lot of rain and now they say we are having an La
Nina (too much rain) after having an El Nino (drought). We are going to have
to get tough on the brush and grass at the school as it is growing quickly.
The two goats we have, have no hope of keeping up. We had over 295 mm ( 11;6
inches) of rain in March and April is shaping up to be rainier!
THIS 'N' THAT
The larger generator which packed up last month I was able to find and install
a replacement alternator. About 1/2 the price of a new generator and we are
back on line. Keep in mind we have no high voltage lines we can tap into here
in the village and if we don't generate it or solor it we are in darkness.
The 20th century secretary desk that was eaten by white
ants has been rebuild and is back at home. The desk belongs to Douglas Patterson
who allows us the use of his internet connection when we are in town. I was
able to save the flip down top, the cubby holes and drawers and the 3 of the
four drawer fronts, everything had to be rebuilt.

I was also able to re-finish a table that had cyclone damage to the finish.
finished table (another antique)
I build two wardrobe units for Kaye Patterson to replace units that were white ant (termite) eaten as well and Goman helped me install them on Thursday. These are the kind of projects I hope to incorporate in the wood working section of the Bible Institute when we finally get everything going, hopefully later this year or the first of next year. Right now we are just teaching the Book!
We received a shipment (480 copies) of the "Biblical Research Library" tome written by Roger Dickson of South Africa. Tome because it is 2772 pages of Biblical material. Roger had it printed in China and he had our copies sent straight to us. He had supporters pay for the printing and all we had to do was pay for the shipping. They are and will be a huge plus for the students we have and will have and others who can benefit from the material. We thank God for brothers like Roger and those who support him.
MEDICAL
We had to again return to the doctor about Kathy's ankle and have been told
she has Complex Regional Pain Syndrome. (CRPS) is a chronic pain condition most
often affecting one of the limbs (arms, legs, hands, or feet), usually after
an injury or trauma to that limb. CRPS is believed to be caused by damage to,
or malfunction of, the peripheral and central nervous systems. The central nervous
system is composed of the brain and spinal cord, and the peripheral nervous
system involves nerve signaling from the brain and spinal cord to the rest of
the body. CRPS is characterized by prolonged or excessive pain and mild or dramatic
changes in skin color, temperature, and/or swelling in the affected area.
We were told it might take up to another year to get relief. She wears a wrap on the ankle when out just to protect it. We will have a doctor look at it when we get back to the States.
I also has to see the doctor as I had a tumor which had grown out from under a finger nail a couple of weeks before and it was not getting any better. Every time I hit it when working it bleed profusely. He deadened the end of the finger and cut the tumor off and cauterized the blood vessels. No problem until the deadening wore off, wow!!!!
We look forward to getting back and sharing with you the things God is doing in and through our lives. God is good!!!!!!!!!
Onward and upward!
We especially want to thank all of you so much for praying for us, supporting
us and have contributed to our needs so we can do what we are doing. God bless
you! Thank you for your prayers and fellowship!
Thank you Lord for healing and providing what we need!
Grace & Peace
