Volume 6; No.5 MAY 1983
Dear Brethren;
Greeting in the name of the Lord!
ON THE ROAD STILL
The month of April was one of those months I really felt we hop-scotched around.
During April we visited: Round Rack Texas; Herne Texas; Dallas; Sylvan Hills,
No. Little Rock Ark.; Wewoka Okla.; Rocky Comfort, Mo.; Shreveport La. 2965
miles.
UNDER THE KNIFE AGAIN
During the last few days of March our family was in Sulphur Springs Texas where
Kathy had surgery. Dr. Claude Reynolds operated and fixed a hernia she had.
She had been told several years ago that eventually she should have something
done about it. During March she experienced pain when doing exercises (see,
exercising can be hazardous to your health). Surgery was recommended, so she
had it. She is doing fine now.
BIBLES NEEDED DESPERATELY!
Andy Scott recently wrote me and said that we are in desperate need of more
Bibles to be used with the English speaking brethren and also those English
speakers with whom they are currently studying. He requested the NIV Bible because
of its ease of comprehension. The English speaking people of PNG have a hard
time understanding the KJ version. If you or a congregation would be interested
in this special need we can obtain 300 copies for approximately $600.
SONG BOOKS NEEDED ALSO
In the same letter Andy mentioned that we are needing song books to use with
the English speaking congregations. If your congregation would like to donate
your old song books (or send new song books) to a good cause please send them
to:
GOROKA CHURCH OF CHRIST
P.O.BOX 427
GOROKA, E.H.P.
PAPUA NEW GUINEA
These song books can be sent a special "MAIL-BAG" PRINTED rate. You
can mail 22-66 lbs per mail bag.

We would like to make a request of all of you who receive this newsletter. If you don't already help on a monthly basis financially, would you please send in $20 just this one month. Your $20 with everyone else's $20 will help us to reach that goal we have set to buy equipment needed for the printing work. Please help won't you ? If you can help more, please do. But please do not feel obligated to give if you cannot. Regardless of what you do you will continue to receive the newsletter monthly. Thank you so much.
OPPORTUNITIES ABOUND
"Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not
hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes." Isa. 54:2
How would you feel if, as you looked over thousands of acres of land, you realized
that it was up to you to keep the soil, plant the crop and keep the fields clear
of weeds. All of this to be your responsibility or there would be no harvest?
I am certain it would overwhelm you and you would not feel like enlarging the
place of your tent, especially if your equipment was not adequate for the job
that was to be accomplished. That is how we feel when we view the opportunities
that are before us in Papua New Guinea. Sowing the SEED of the WORD is being
accomplished through the printed page and that is why I have ask for your financial
assistance.
OUR THANKFULNESS OF YOU
We could want nothing greater for you than that which Paul desired for the Ephesians
when he said, "the eyes of your hearts may be enlightened in order that
you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of His glorious
inheritance in the Saints and His incomparable great power to us who believe.
That power is like the working of His mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ
when He raised him from the dead ..", Eph1:18-20a. Brethren, how exilerating
it is to think that Christ's victory was our victory, that God has raised us
up to sit together with Christ in heavenly places.
Among the many things for which we have to be thankful and the greatest is the faithfulness of you brethren who are having fellowship with us in our labors in PNG. Fellowship is a real work with a real meaning. It means simply, joint participation, which means we are all sharing in this work. It is God's work and to Him be all the glory and praise. But you and our family are sharing in this work of sharing the Gospel to the world. We hope this means as much to you as it does to us to know that we are engaged in bringing Light to a world in darkness.
Please remember the PNG Christians in your prayers and us as we prepare for our return to the work there.
Yours servant because of the cross.
