Dear Friends, Brethren and Family

Last Thursday afternoon (May 24th) the VA called to say my prostate biopsy from Monday was back - I have prostate cancer in one of the twelve clips they took. We had an appointment today (May 31st) to discuss treatment. We were told today that it is low volume and were given the treatment options (radical, Houston; radiation, 8 weeks in Joplin; seeds, Washington St). We have chosen to do the "active surveillance" treatment which means I will have another prostate biopsy in a year's time to see if it has changed any. This might be at Fayetteville or in Hawaii at the VA.

I was also encouraged to apply for disability (monthly payments from the US government) as it is related to agent orange in Vietnam. They said it might take up to a year to get it though. I have 100% coverage for medical with VA. (even travel reimbursement). I have written to two members of congress to expedite the disability payment.

In 1970 I died to self and was resurrected into Christ. I said in my last report that God does more than we can ask or think and I guess this is His way of showing that there is support available but in a different way. What a different way! If it is His body then he can do what he wants - right! We also found out that if we do the radical surgery there are side affects (we are not ready to under go and then the disability would cease. I don't want to be accused of not appreciating what the Lord provides, so we will wait and see.

Before we went to Fayetteville we went to Mt Vernon and had the scan done on my thyroid. I should get the results sometime next week. They are also to look at both knees the end of June so I might have to have surgery on them as well.

Our plans are still to go back to Vanuatu in August unless I have to stay for treatment - BUT LORD WILLING WE ARE GOING BACK!
