VOLUME 8, NO. 10 OCTOBER 1985
Dear Brethren;
Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ
ON THE ROAD AGAIN
It seems as if we were just writing about being on the road again. This getting
in and out of the car and traveling all over sure does get old quick. We really
enjoy seeing and visiting you all but I do wish there was a way to transport
ourselves from place to place without all the traveling.
We, just got back this week (21st) after over two weeks on the road. We left Terasa and Jason here in Joplin and Abraham was with us on the road. We traveled to and thu Arkansas and Texas. We traveled just under 2700 miles.(2696 to be exact!)
INTEREST HIGH FOR THE OCEANIA PLAN
So far we have been real excited about the positive response we have received
so far as to the Oceania Outreach Program. Almost everyone has agreed with our
plan to move from Papua New Guinea to New Zealand. Such a move will allow for
an expansion of the printing work we are currently involved in to a larger impact
in the South Pacific.
In our travels we have seen that most people misunderstood our intending move to New Zealand. It has never been our intention to direct our primary mission work to the New Zealand area. The move to New Zealand will allow us to establish a stable base of operation from which we can work to evangelizing the islands of the South Pacific. NZ is the traffic hub to the South Pacific and thus the logical place to set up camp. Much of the printing equipment and supplies come from NZ and a move there allows us to cut costs of operation. Even though some costs will go down new costs will come up. In New Guinea we were fortunate to have the use of buildings on the property by our house which in essence were rent free (we paid the land taxes and utilities). We have been told that New Zealand is a bit firm about noise creating machinery in residential areas. If we cannot find accommodations just outside of town where we can have the printshop close by then we will have to rent a store front.
If we can help the NZ brethren then we will but our primary work is printing
for the outer islands (Papua New Guinea included).
Because of the wider scope of work we are trying to secure funds for much needed
equipment. This includes upgrading our Xerox memorywriter to a full screen word
processor. We are also in need of a good folding machine. We left the photocopier
we had in the printshop in Goroka with the missionaries in Goroka. This allows
them to photocopy shortrun items for the work there. We are also going to have
to purchase a new plate making machine. All of these items take mula (money).
If you will bear with me I will now show how you can help us to secure the needed
funds. I forgot to mention that we still owe $5900 on our return tickets and
shipment of the printing equipment and our personal goods from PNG to NZ.
LITTLE BY LITTLE WE OVERCOME
If we look at the total sum of funds needed it can be overbearing. There are over1400 people who receive this newsletter. If each person receiving this newsletter were to give just $15 this one month then $21,000 would be raised. But being realistic all 1400 will not send in $15. (prove me wrong!) Therefore would you help us meet this need by sending $20, $ 5 0 , or $100 this one time. If there are surplus funds they would be held in escrow for future needs by our sponsor. Please don't think that someone else will send funds and your's will not be needed.
PLEASE SEND YOUR CHECK TODAY!
